Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang's Statement on UN Security Council's Presidential Statement on the Cheonan Incident
2010-07-09 23:00

On July 9, the United Nations Security Council issued a presidential statement on the Cheonan incident. The statement referred to the findings of South Korea's joint investigation and also referred to DPRK's response that it had nothing to do with the incident. The statement also encouraged the settlement of outstanding issues on the Korean Peninsula by peaceful means to resume direct dialogue and negotiation between the DPRK and ROK. We hope that relevant parties will continue to exercise calmness and restraint and take the opportunity to turn over the page of the Cheonan incident as soon as possible. We call for an early resumption of the Six-Party Talks and joint efforts to maintain the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.
