2008-07-07 00:00

LUANDA, July 5 (Xinhua) -- China is ready to promote economic and trade cooperation with Angola, visiting senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) He Guoqiang said here Thursday.

He, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting with Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos.

He, also secretary of the CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, pointed to the traditional Sino-Angolan friendship and the steadily growing bilateral ties since the two countries established diplomatic relations 25 years ago.

China encourages its enterprises to take part in Angola's economic construction, as Angola has become China's biggest trading partner in Africa, he said.

He said there is a huge potential for bilateral cooperation, and called for joint efforts to raise bilateral reciprocal cooperation to higher levels.

The CPC will continue to develop its relations with the People's Liberation Movement of Angola (MPLA) and make its due efforts to push forward bilateral state-to-state relations.

Dos Santos said the Angola-China relationship is a strategic cooperative relationship and bilateral all-dimensional cooperation has played an enormous role in Angola's reconstruction.

Angola will work with China to further tap potentials for mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields so as to make new achievements in this regard, the president said.

They also exchanged views on a wide range of international and regional issues of common concern.

Angola is the last leg of He's four-nation tour, which has already taken him to Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago and Brazil.
