BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Zhou Yongkang, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, on Tuesday praised law-enforcers in the earthquake relief work, calling them "loyal guards of the Party and the people."

The law-enforcers have been proved to be "politically firm, strictly disciplinary, and staunch-styled," said Zhou while meeting a delegation of law-enforcement officials at a conference in the Great Hall of the People together with an audience to hear reports on quake relief deeds.

He urged law-enforcement officials throughout the country to learn from the heroic units and individuals in the quake relief work.

The May 12 earthquake in the southwestern Sichuan Province left more than 80,000 people dead or missing.
