Liberian president attends China's National Day reception

MONROVIA, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Liberian President Allen Johnson Serleaf, Supreme Court Chief Justice Johnnie Lewis, former President Moses Blah, some government ministers and senior officials attended China's National Day reception at the Monrovia municipal hall Wednesday.

On behalf of the Liberian government, Serleaf congratulated China on the 59th anniversary of its founding, and the great achievements it has made since 1949.

She also lauded China's successes in hosting the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and in launching the Shenzhou-7 space mission.

Serleaf spoke highly of the friendship between Liberia and China, saying that Liberia will work unwaveringly to enhance friendly ties with China.

The president also appreciated Chinese aid programs in Liberia in areas such as infrastructure construction, agriculture, education, health care and human resources development as well as China's debt relief and peace-keeping efforts to her country.

Chinese Ambassador Zhou Yuxiao said China will keep its promiseto Liberia in regard to aid programs, and will further boost investment in Liberia to achieve a win-win situation.
