Chinese Ambassador Zhou Yuxiao Visits Liberian Broadcasting System
2008-02-05 00:00

Chinese Ambassador Zhou Yuxiao said he is prepared to facilitate more support to Liberian Broadcasting System (LBS).

Speaking on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 when he paid an acquaintance visit to LBS, Amb. Zhou expressed his willingness to engage Chinese TV stations to offer programs to the TV branch of LBS, LBTV, which will begin its broadcast soon. He believed that as the only state broadcasting agency, LBS can play an important role in uniting the people and promoting development. That is the reason why the Chinese Government is assisting LBS to build six FM Radio relay stations, which will be able to cover the whole country when completed.

Earlier, Mr. Charles Snetter, Director General of LBS along with his senior staff warmly welcomed the Ambassador and briefed him on the history and current situation of the System. He expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Government for its timely assistance and thanked the Chinese Embassy for its valuable support. He also expressed his appreciation to the Chinese Engineering Team at the FM Radio project for their professionalism and hard work.

Amb. Zhou later visited the facilities of LBS and the construction site of the China-aided FM Radio Project in the company of Mr. Snetter and other LBS staff.
