Amb. Zhou and Minister Gayflor exchanges hand-over documents

A consignment of training materials from the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) was donated to the Ministry of Gender & Development of Liberia on March 27, 2008. Chinese Ambassador Zhou Yuxiao and Mrs. Vaba Gayflor, Minister of Gender and development singed the hand-over documents. Officials of the Gender Ministry and Chinese Embassy staff attended the hand-over ceremony.

In his remarks, Amb. Zhou pointed out that during the procurement of the materials, ACWF fully consulted with their Liberia counterpart and adjusted the items several times in order to best meet the requirements of the Liberian Gender Ministry. The sum of the assistance was not big, said the Ambassador, but it reflected the friendly sentiments of the Chinese Women to the Liberian Women and their support to Women's cause in Liberia. He also expressed the hope that the donation would do help in promoting the women's cause here.

For her part, Minister Gayflor thanked ACWF for its valuable support to Liberian women. She disclosed that the materials will be distributed to women centers all over the country for women's capacity building. She also recalled her memorable visit to China in 2006 as guest of ACWF and revealed that she was deeply impressed by the diligent and hardworking spirit and strong sense of discipline of the Chinese people. Liberians can learn from their Chinese brothers and sisters and improve their living by working hard, said the Gender Minister.

The donation of 36,000 US Dollars consists mainly of projectors, sewing machines, cloth and stationery.
