China's Timely Assistance to Help Liberia Combating Army Worms

On behalf of Chinese Government, H.E. Mr. ZHOU Yuxiao, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China accredited to Liberia, on 31 January 2009 presented Ministry of Agriculture of Liberia, represented by Agricultural Minister Christopher Toe, a total value of 10,000 USD equipment and materials in a rapid response to support Government of Liberia in its fight against the plague of caterpillar swarms.

   
 Timely Assistance Unloading of Assistance materials 
Ambassador ZHOU reiterated Chinese Government's unswerving support to endeavor of Government of Liberia to combat caterpillar swarms in several counties. He expressed his firm belief that the people and Government of Liberia with aid of international community can surely win their fight against the invading army worms. He said that the assistance targets not only the equipments and tools for curbing the quick spreading of army worms, but also humanitarian sectors such as water sanitation. Though small the assistance seems to be, it represents the sincere friendship between China and Liberia. "A friend in need is a friend indeed." He also assured the Minister Toe that China is willing to further the existing good cooperation with Liberia in the field of agriculture.

Minister Christopher Toe on its part expressed sincere thanks for the quick response by Government of the People's Republic of China, and he said that the assistance of great help is a timely relief and will be delivered to the worm stricken communities with no waste of time.
