H. E. Ambassador ZHOU Yuxiao accompanied by Mr. Philipbert S. Browne, Chairman of the Board of the Liberia-China Friendship Organization planted a tree of friendship in the garden of new Chinese Embassy compound on 12 January, 2009.

Ambassador ZHOU expressed his satisfaction towards the excellent relations between China and Liberia, praising the philosophy of equality and mutual benefit guiding the success of bilateral relationship between the two countries. He also pointed out that China and Liberia as two countries in the new era are connected more closely than ever before and the two nations need to support each other complementarily. China is committed itself as a positive part into the peace and prosperity of Liberia, a nation devastated by years of civil war. Ambassador ZHOU expressed his sincere wishes to the prosperity of the friendship tree co-planted in Chinese Embassy and he also challenged both Liberian and Chinese peoples all make their own contribution towards the bilateral relation. "Every individual, institution and the governments of both China and Liberia need to work together for the growth of the China-Liberia relationship".

As the Chairman of the Board of the Liberia-China Friendship Organization, Mr. Philipbert S. Browne on his part expressed sincere gratitude for what China have been doing in Liberia. He praised the role China playing on endeavor of postwar reconstruction of Liberia for China is not only engaging itself in peacemaking process but committed itself as the first country build new embassy compound in postwar Liberia. Mr. Philipbert S. Browne reiterated LCFO's willingness to promote the further development of the existing excellent bilateral relationship between two countries.
