H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the President of Republic of Liberia, on February 26 attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Rehabilitation of Monrovia City Streets, a project sponsored by World Bank and contracted by China Chongqing International Construction Corporation (CICO).

Madam President commended the continuous contributions made by World Bank, China and other international donors to the ongoing peace and reconstruction effort in Liberian. She reiterated Liberian Government’s commitment in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the infrastructure devastated from years of civil war in this West African country. Cheered by public excitement on the scene, Madam President challenged the public to be cooperative and constructive while the project makes its commencement for the goal of building Monrovia to be a beautiful and proud city.

Chinese Ambassador ZHOU Yuxiao on its part challenged CICO of showing the professionalism and commitment to meet urgent need of the people of Liberia. He also called for the constructive involvement of the international competitors into the infrastructure field of Liberia to cater for the goodness of Liberian People.
