Army Day Celebration Held in Chinese Embassy

On July 31, 2009, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Liberia held a Army Day reception for the celebration of the 82nd anniversary of the birth of People's Liberation Army (PLA). Lt. Colonel Mr. Liu Shengli, the Military Attache of the Embassy made his remarks on the reception, noting the achievements made by the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Liberia, emphasizing the great importance attached by Chinese Government to the peace and reconstruction of the years-war-torn Liberia by working closely with the international community,which exemplies especially in its active contributions upon the peacekeeping mission in UNMIL.

On his part, Mr. Dionysius Sebwe, the Deputy Defense Minister of the Republic of Liberia congratulated the 82nd anniversary of PLA and expressed the satisfactions and appreciations towards the great contributions made by Chinese side to Liberian endeavor of maintaining peace and stability, reassuring the commitment from Liberian side for strengthening the existing friendly relations between the Arm Force of Liberia and the PLA. Attending the celebration were Mr. Gou Haodong the Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy, high-profile officers of UNMIL, diplomats and military personnel of Embassies near Monrovia and Chinese Peacekeeping Contingents in Liberia etc..
