Monrovia, Liberia - A five-member delegation from Henan Province of People's Republic of China, paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Madame Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf on August 10, 2009.

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf welcomed Mr. Qin Yuhai, the Vice Governor of Henan Province, and his delegation and expressed satisfaction to the bilateral relationship between Liberia and China.

The President lauded the Chinese company CHICO from Henan Provice as a successful story in the face-lifting of Liberian road net by its active participation in the implementation of Infrastructure development, one of the four Pillars of PRS initiated by Liberian Government. After being briefed the basic information on the development of Henan Provice, the Liberian leader challenged Henan Province to expand its initiatives into a wider scenario such as agriculture development in Liberia by making use of Henan's advantage as a heavyweight agriculture player in China.

On his part, head of the delegation, Vice Governor Mr. Qin Yuhai expressed satisfaction to be in Liberia. He assured the Liberian leader that Henan Provincial Government would encourage more Henan enterprises with capacity and potential to undertake development initiatives in Liberia as the Henan Province has done in other countries.

The Henan Province delegation is visiting Liberia to further the understanding of the successes achieved thus far by its Henan enterprises and explore new areas of cooperation in Liberia with an emphasis on agriculture in particular.
