60th National Day Reception held in Chinese Embassy

Monrovia September 25: A reception was held by H.E. Amb. ZHOU Yuxiao at Chinese Embassy compound for the coming October 1st national day, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

In his remarks, Amb. ZHOU accounted series of fundamental achievements made by China since the founding of the People's Republic of China on Oct. 1st, 1949 and expressed his optimism and confidence, thanks to Chinese people's resilience and hardworking spirit, towards China's future development in face of the potential gigantic challenges

Internal Affairs Minister Amblai Johnson, who was also the Cabinet Acting Chairman upon President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's trip abroad, spoke, representing Liberia Government, of the great significance of the founding of the People's Republic of China 60 years ago and praised China's positive role played in the world arena. By emphasizing China's contribution towards Liberia's postwar peace and development, Minister Johnson reiterated Liberia's firm stance in supporting China's positive engagement in the continent of Africa under the backdrop of the FOCAC, which he believed, could be an impetus on the development of Liberia and Africa at large.

Upon her immediate return from the US trip, H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia, made her appearance amid the progress of the reception and made a toast to the guests present and the coming China National Day.
