Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Completed Visit to Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia, April 25, 2010: Dr. Fu Ziying, Vice Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China together with his 42-memebr delegation completed the successful 3-day-visit to Liberia and then headed for Chad as the last stop of their five African nations tour in the morning of April 25, 2010.

During his stay in Liberia, Dr. Fu Ziying paid a courtesy visit to Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and held extensive talks with H.E. Olubanke King-Akerele, Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs together with the Ministers of Justice; Commerce and Industry; Lands, Mines and Energy; Information, Culture and Tourism, and the Chairman of the National Investment Commission. After the talks, six bilateral agreement and exchanges of letters between China and Liberia were signed and the 2.6 billion Bong Mines project was launched by the witness of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Vice Minister Fu Ziying.

The Delegation visited China aided Bamboo and Rattan Weaving and Vegetable Demonstration Technology Projects in Liberia during the visit. The delegation also visited Fendell Campus Project of the University of Liberia under construction with Chinese aid.

During the delegation's stay in Liberia, H.E. Zhou Yuxiao, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, hosted a Forum on China and Liberia Economic and Trade Cooperation which was addressed by the Liberian Vice President, Joseph N. Boakai with 100 strong government officials and business executives from China and Liberia present. A photo exhibition of Liberia China and Africa China Cooperation ensued was also held.
