Army Day Celebration Held in Chinese Embassy

Monrovia, Liberia, July 30, 2010: Senior. Colonel LIU Shengli, the Defense Attache of the Chinese Embasy in Liberia, has on Friday reaffirmed China's commitment to the peace and stability of Liberia during a grand reception in observance of the 83rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) held in Chinese Embassy in Liberia.

During his remarks, Sr. Col. LIU introduced the history and development of the PLA and expressed his satisfaction towards the cooperation level achieved between China and Liberia during the past few years. China will continue to work with the international community in support of the Arm Forces of Liberia in its reconstruction and development endeavor by a series of meaningful means such as military personnel training and logistic supporting etc.. Sr. Col. LIU asserted.

In response, Liberian Defense Minister Brownie Samukai commended China's supportive role played in the reconstruction of the Arm Forces of Liberia and reaffirmed Liberian side's commitment to the improvement and furtherance of the cooperation between Liberia and China.

Also present at the reception were Mr. ZHOU Yuxiao, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu, acting UN SRSG, Senator Ballout, chairman on the Senate Standing Committee on National Defense and Security, and other distinguished guests.
