Chinese Embassy Presents 20 Motorbikes To Liberia National Police

Monrovia, Liberia, August 4, 2010: The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China has presented a consignment of 20 new Leopard Motorbikes including helmets to authorities of the Liberia National Police (LNP). The motorbikes, according to Ambassador Zhou Youxiao, is the embassy’s own way of identifying with the police in ensuring the fight against crimes and maintaining security in the country.

Describing the motorbikes as a small gift, Ambassador Zhou said the people of China were pleased to be in solidarity with the police in addressing some of its constraints.

The Chinese envoy also indicated that the motorbikes will contribute to the security pillar of the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) or Lift Liberia and enhance the capacity of the police in fighting crimes and ensuring national security.

For his part, the Commissioner for Administration at the LNP, who received the consignment of the motorbikes on behalf of the LNP, assured that the motorbikes will be used for its intended purpose.

Commissioner Harris M. Dunn further lauded the efforts of the Chinese Embassy.

He said he was not surprised by the donation of the Chinese Embassy, adding the Chinese Government always responses to the needs of the police and other institutions.

It can be recalled that recently, the Chinese Embassy presented a consignment of 20 motorbikes to the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization (BIN) to enhance the capacity of officers at that entity.
