Monrovia, Liberia, Dec. 4: Liberian Vice President, Joseph Boakai, has commended Chinese positive involvement in maintaining peace and stability of the postwar Liberia, as he attended a farewell reception held at Chinese Ambassador’s residence in the evening of Friday.

While making toast  during the reception, the Liberian V.P. took it as an honor to be able to associate with Chinese peacekeepers during the farewell reception held by Chinese Ambassador ZHOU Yuxiao, and expressed his government’s appreciation and gratitude towards the meaningful contribution made thus far by the Chinese Government and its people, not only in the area of the peace and stability, but also in showing the solidarity by sending its President as the first nation of big power to visit the postwar Liberia in 2007, and giving numerous development assistances after the resumption of the bilateral diplomatic relationship between the two countries in 2003.

On his part, Chinese Ambassador ZHOU Yuxiao thanked Vice President Boakai for his kindness and high regards to the bilateral relationship between China and Liberia by honoring his presence at the farewell reception. The senior Chinese envoy commended the departing Chinese peacekeepers for their devoting sacrifice to the peace building and postwar reconstruction of this west Africa country, and challenged them to bring back to China not only the unforgettable experiences and memories, but also the daily progress in peace and development made by Liberian Government and its people.

With 35 present representatives from the three Chinese Peacekeeping Contingents stationing in Liberia, the farewell reception was held by Chinese Ambassador ZHOU Yuxiao by the side of an African traditional palava hut at his residence.
