China and Liberia to Embrace More Exchange on Culture and Sports

Monrovia, Liberia-A jamboree has been held at Freddie’s Entertainment Center on Du-Port Road, Paynesville, Monrovia on Saturday, for celebrating the formal installation of the officials for the newly established Liberia Wushu Association (LWAO).

As the special installing officer of the newly appointed LWAO, Chinese Ambassador Mr. ZHOU Yuxiao honored the occasion and performed the due ceremonial duties by leading the installing oath and face-touching one by one with the Bible and the LWAO constitution as he installed the LWAO officials.

During his ensuing remarks, the Chinese envoy expressed his happiness towards the deepening relations between China and Liberia, which has not only been witnessing the close political and economic ties, but also expanding to the area of sports and culture exchange. Emphasizing the increasing need for countries in this globalized world to further their cooperation and understanding, Ambassador ZHOU challenged the local youth in Liberia to be more active in getting themselves into practicing the various sport activities including Wushu, or called Kung Fu, which boasts itself as one special aspect of spectrum of the unique Chinese culture, as a means to expand their horizon and further understand the world.

Also present at the function were also Edwin K. Tette Deputy Minister for Administration, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Philip Browne, President of the Liberia National Olympic Committee, and other government officials etc..
