The main achievements

IV. Carried out technical transferring to local communities

In order to transfer the technologies to local farmer, Chinese SSC specialists guided Liberian counterparts to solve the technical problems in the communities for the farmers. Within the past 2 years, SSC cooperants visited 317 farming households, solved 39 technical problems, transferred 92 practical technologies, donated 4200 grams of seeds and some amount of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers etc., and at the same time, guided the farmers in rice and vegetable production and poultry and livestock production, and guided the farmers and technicians to make and improve 40 kinds of farming instruments with total number of 796, which increased the farmers' capacity in agriculture greatly. Furthermore, Chinese SSC team held a workshop in theoretical and practical knowledge respectively in 5 duty stations. 210 trainees including local farmers and technicians, of which 63 persons are female, were invited to get trained. In the workshops, Chinese specialists interacted and communicated with the trainees and got to know what they expected of the workshops, and in addition, solved 31 technical problems on the spot and gave some advices about marketing. The workshops increased the trainees' confidence and enthusiasm in agriculture and Chinese agro-technologies have won recognition from the participants.

V. Carried out technical exchange and cooperation with other projects.

Chinese SSC team participated in the technical exchange and cooperation with Japan-Western Africa SSC project, AOAV project, Liberian universities, FAO poultry production project in Lofa County, FAO monitoring and evaluation division, and the project of agricultural mass production and capacity building project in Measuagoon district, Cape Mount County. Chinese team trained 279 persons for the AOAV project, 5 intern students for Cuttinton College, and 57 farmers for Lofa county poultry production project. Chinese experts made a presentation of the challenges in rice and fish production and countermeasures in Liberia for Japan-western Africa SSC project and also participated in the project of initial monitoring and assessment of fish production in Liberian border area and made an advice on fish production technology, fish processing and marketing based on the existing problems in aquaculture. Furthermore, Chinese specialists provided technical assistance for the project of agricultural mass production and capacity building project in Measuagoon district, Cape Mount County.
