The Liberian Youth Olympic Delegation heads to China for sports exchanges
2016-10-11 01:42

At the invitation of Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Sports, the Liberian Youth Olympic Delegation departed for China on October 8th to participate in Nanjing International Youth Sports and Cultural Week. During their stay in China, the Liberian athletes and coaches will get together and compare notes with their Chinese counterparts through collective training and matches with a view to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship.

In the eve of the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games in 2014, the Liberian delegation voluntarily decided to give up the chance to go to China as the Ebola epidemic was spreading in West Africa including Liberia at that time. In return to the Liberian delegation's kind gesture, the Chinese organizer decided to invite the delegation to visit China after the epidemic ended. In this regard, this exchange visit of the Liberian delegation is not only an important part of sports and cultural exchange between China and Liberia, but also the fulfillment of dreams of the delegates to take part in the Youth Olympic Games.

"I really highly appreciate what China has done for us." The head of the delegation and senior official of the National Olympic Committee of Liberia, Mr. Boie Corvah said, "We will take this opportunity to learn more from our Chinese colleagues in sports training and practices, promoting the development of sports cause in Liberia and deepening mutual understanding between our two peoples as well."
