Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng presents the Letter of Credence to H.E. President George Manneh Weah of the Republic of Liberia

On August 11, 2020, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng, presented the Letter of Credence to H.E. President George Manneh Weah of the Republic of Liberia at the Presidential Residence in Liberia. Acting Foreign Minister of Liberia, Hon. Henry B. Fahnbulleh,Minister of State &Chief of Staff Hon. Nathaniel F. McGill and Chinese Embassy Political Counselor Xu Kun,Economic and Commercial Counselor Li Jiang attended the event.

Ambassador Ren conveyed the cordial regards and best wishes of H.E. President Xi Jinping to H.E. President George Manneh Weah, and friendly sentiments of the Chinese government and people to the Liberian government and people at the outset.

Ambassador Ren said that Liberia is the oldest republic in Africa. Its people are hard-working and intelligent, and the country has rich natural resources,promising tremendous development potential. At present, mankind is facing the severe test of the COVID-19. We are pleased to see that the Liberian government is leading the Liberian people to fight the epidemic with all their strength and work hard to restore economic and social production. He is convinced that under the leadership of H.E. President George Manneh Weah, Liberia will surely overcome the pandemic and make even greater achievement in its development.

Ambassador Ren said that the people of China and Liberia have enjoyed long-term friendship,and the relations between the two countries have been continuously developed. China highly appreciates H.E. President George Manneh Weah’s commitment to the China-Liberia relationship and to the One-China policy. China stands ready to make joint efforts with Liberia to promote political mutual trust, actively boost win-win cooperation in various fields, and further increase people-to-people and cultural exchanges so as to bring China-Liberia comprehensive cooperative partnership to a new level and deliver more benefits to our two countries and peoples.

Ambassador Ren said that he is greatly honored to have been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Liberia. And he is fully aware of the heavy responsibility on his shoulders. He promised that during his tenure of office,he will fulfill his duties and exert his best efforts to consolidate and grow the China-Liberia comprehensive cooperative partnership. He is convinced that in carrying out this lofty mission, he will receive strong support and assistance from H.E. President George Manneh Weah and the Liberian government.

Ambassador Ren wishes the Republic of Liberia prosperity and its people happiness,China-Liberia friendship last forever and our friendly cooperation grow from strength to strength. He also wishes H.E. President George Manneh Weah good health.

H.E. President George Manneh Weah welcomed Ambassador Ren to assume his new post, and asks the ambassador to convey his cordial greetings and best wishes to H.E. President Xi Jinping. He also said that China is an important partner and friend of Liberia, and the Liberian government and people firmly support the One-China policy. Liberia pursues an independent foreign policy and non-interference in internal affairs is the basic principle of Liberia’s foreign policy. Liberia and China cooperate closely in international affairs and safeguard the common interests of developing countries. H.E. President George Manneh Weah highly appreciates China's active participation in the post-war reconstruction of Liberia, and thanks China for its timely and generous assistance provided after the Ebola and COVID-19 outbreaks in Liberia, and for its long-term major contributions to the economic and social development of Liberia. On behalf of the Liberian government, H.E. President George Manneh Weah pledges to fully support the work of Ambassador Ren and wishes him a smooth and happy life in Liberia.
