Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng Meets Liberian Minister of Finance and Development Planning Hon. Mr. Samuel D. Tweah Jr.

On August 14, 2020, the new Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng met Liberian Minister of Finance and Development Planning Hon. Mr. Samuel D. Tweah Jr. Both sides extensively exchanged views on China-Liberia relationship and future bilateral cooperation in post COVID-19 era. Commercial Counsellor Mr. Li Jiang also joined the meeting.

Ambassador Ren expressed that, he is honored to have been appointed the Chinese Ambassador to Liberia and will endeavor to promote the friendly and practical bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Ren applauded the economic and social achievements that Liberia has made in recent years as well as the two countries mutual support in fighting COVID-19. The Chinese side will further deepen all-round and multi-level China-Liberia bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas under the framework of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as well as the Belt and Road Initiative, in supporting Liberia to achieve the development goals of Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).

Minister Samuel D. Tweah congratulated Ambassador Ren’s new mission in Liberia, and extended gratitude to the Chinese side for its consistent support and aid to Liberia. Tweah said, the landscape projects such as the Ministerial Complex and SKD Stadium are significant in the reconstruction process of Liberia. The advancing Liberia-China cooperation have helped Liberia to build up solid foundation of the social and economic development. In the post-COVID era,both sides can strengthen cooperation in areas such as health, infrastructure, agriculture and hydro-power.
