Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. REN Yisheng attends the 75th United Nations Day

On October 23, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng attended the 75th United Nations Day organized by the UN Office in Liberia. The Liberian President H.E. George Manneh Weah and senior officials of the Liberian government, UN resident coordinator Dr. Kingsley Opoku Amaning and staff of the UN Liberia Office as well as representatives from diplomatic corps and international organizations in Liberia were present.

President Weah said in his remarks that the world is safer today and more prosperous because of UN. UN has made significant progress in promoting human rights, safeguarding world peace and security and leading countries to cope with public health emergencies. With the support and assistance from UN, Liberia has restored rule of law and order, successfully combated Ebola, and now is fighting COVID-19 with an all-out effort. The Liberian government will remain committed to securing peace and upholding human rights, and working for the happiness of her people with the help of UN.

Dr. Kingsley delivered the message from the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres who appeals for solidarity and cooperation among nations to secure world peace, fight COVID-19, and achieve sustainable development goals.
