On December 15, 2020, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng was invited to attend the grand opening ceremony of the Paynesville City Hall Community Park held by the municipal government of Paynesville, Montserrado County. Around 100 people attended the event, including E. Pam Belcher-Taylor, Mayor of Paynesville City, Florence Brandy, Superintendent of Montserrado County, Hon. Paulita Wie, Deputy Minister for Urban Affairs at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, several members of the House of Representatives of Montserrado County, representatives of community and students in Paynesville City, journalists from mainstream media in Liberia and representatives of relevant international organizations in Liberia.

In his speech, Ambassador Ren congratulated Paynesville Community Park on its official opening and commended the positive achievements made by the government and people of Liberia in promoting economic and social development and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Facing the challenge of COVID-19 this year, the governments and people of the two countries have always looked out for each other and shared weal and woe, and the traditional friendship and mutual trust have been continuously consolidated and deepened. China will continue to provide support to Liberia's national construction to the best of its ability, and is willing to continue to work together with Liberia to build a closer shared future of China and Liberia.

Mayor Taylor and others said that China has always been an important partner worthy of trust and reliance, and always stands ready to give full help to Liberia when it encounters difficulties. The basketball court and children's playground project built by China for the benefit of local communities is another important symbol of the profound friendship between the two peoples. This project can be called a model of urban modernization project, which will significantly improve the quality of life of residents in and around Paynesville City, and is of great significance to the people. Liberian side sincerely thanks Chinese side for its tremendous support in infrastructure construction, and hopes that the two countries will continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation and establish more similar projects in Liberia to benefit more people.
