Chinese Ambassador H.E.Mr Ren Yisheng meets senior officials of the Liberian government and attends public activity

Recently, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng met with Education Minister Hon. Sonni and Labor Minister Hon. Gibson, and attended the opening of the 4th session of the 54th Legislature of the Republic of Liberia.

When meeting with Hon. Sonni, the two sides exchanged views on working together to fight against the COVID pandemic and the cooperation in trade, education, agriculture and so on. Ambassador Ren commended the achievements the Liberian government has made, and said the Chinese side will continue to support the comprehensive development of Liberia. Ambassador Ren also hoped the two sides will work together and strengthen the cooperation in the fields of Covid-19 vaccine, trade, agriculture, education and people-to-people exchange in 2021, thus promoting the relations of the two countries to a new height. Minister Sonni appreciated Chinese government's support to the capacity building of Liberian youth, and said the Chinese government scholarship and the short-term training programs have benefited a lot of Liberian youth who have not only learned skills and landed jobs, but also become the cornerstones to the development of higher education in Liberia. Minister Sonni hoped the Chinese government will help construct some schools and provide some school chairs and desks, and continue to support the development of agriculture and human resource in Liberia.

When meeting with Minister Gibson, the two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in labor, trade and agriculture. Ambassador Ren said the Chinese government has always urged Chinese companies and businessmen to operate in accordance with the Liberian laws and regulations and fulfill their corporate social responsibilities. At the same time, Ambassador Ren hoped the Liberian side can create an enabling environment for doing business in Liberia and promote the economic and trade cooperation of the two countries. Minister Gibson hoped the Chinese side could make more investment in agriculture, and provide more vocational and technical training and create more jobs for the Liberian youth.

Earlier, Ambassador Ren also attended the opening of the 4th session of the 54th Legislature of the Republic of Liberia.
