The Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng meets UN coordinator and UNDP representative to Liberia

On February 8th, the Chinese Ambassador met with UN coordinator to Liberia Mr. Neils Scott. The two sides exchanged views on multilateral and bilateral cooperation in the areas of telecommunications, road infrastructure, agriculture, trade and health in Liberia. Ambassador Ren said, China has always been an advocate for multilateralism, supporting the work of the UN system. China has actively participated in WHO COVAX and donated 10 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to it, mainly for meeting the urgent need of the developing countries. Besides, China is cooperating with UNICEF and WFP to provide urgent humanitarian food assistance and health materials to the most vulnerable groups effected by the Covid-19 pandemic in Liberia. China stands ready to work with the UN and other international partners for the economic and social development of Liberia.

                                   

Mr. Scott said, international cooperation is of great importance to the development of Liberia. As China has achieved significant results in the fight against Covid-19, poverty elimination, infrastructure development and so on, the UN agencies in Liberia is willing to strengthen cooperation with China and work together for the development of agriculture, telecommunications and road infrastructure etc. in Liberia.

 

On February 4th, the Chinese Ambassador also met with UNDP representative to Liberia Mr. Stephen Rodriques. The two sides exchanged views on cooperation in the development of the rural areas of Liberia, poverty alleviation, agriculture, trade, human resource development in Liberia.
