China and Liberia Sign Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement

On February 10th, Chinese ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng and Liberian Foreign Minister H.E. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr. attended the signing ceremony of the China-Liberia Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement. The Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy Li Jiang, Liberian Deputy Foreign Minister Kovah and Assistant Foreign Minister Jackson attended the event.

  

Ambassador Ren said in his speech that bilateral relations between China and Liberia have developed rapidly in recent years and practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. As both are developing countries, China shares Liberia's aspiration for economic development and improvement of people's livelihood, as well as the difficulties and challenges it faces. China is willing to provide active support and help to realize the alignment of the "Belt and Road" initiative with the "Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development" of Liberia. It is ready to share experiences of reform, development and poverty alleviation with Liberia. It will work side by side with Liberia on the path of fighting the COVID pandemic, recovering and developing the economy. Ambassador Ren hoped that the two sides will cooperate closely to promote the smooth implementation of the relevant projects in the agreement and jointly write a new chapter in China-Liberia friendship.

 

Foreign Minister Kemayah said that the mutually beneficial cooperation between Liberia and China has achieved fruitful results. The signing of the economic and technological cooperation agreement between the two sides is of great significance. It is not only a manifestation of the friendship between the two governments, but also between the two peoples. It is furthermore a concrete and highlighted manifestation of the solid relationship between the two countries, and it is another milestone in the relationship between the two countries. It is believed that this agreement will profoundly change the look of Liberia and become a valuable asset for the people of the country. The Liberian government adheres to the one-China principle, thanks China for its timely assistance in fighting the COVID pandemic, and expresses its willingness to further strengthen the development of bilateral relations and promote practical cooperation in various fields to continuously achieve new results.
