Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng Attends "March 8" International Women's Day Observance Event

On March 8, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng attended the "March 8" International Women's Day observance event jointly organized by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Security of Liberia and UN Women in Liberia. More than 500 people attended the event including President George Manneh Weah and the First Lady Klar M. Weah, Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor, Liberian cabinet ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, the United Nations and other international organizations in Liberia, women representatives and other civil society organizations of Liberia.

    

In his speech, Ambassador Ren extended festive congratulations to women from all over the world and introduced China's policies on women and achievements in gender equality and women's development. He said that in the context of the global ravaging Covid-19 pandemic, China is willing to strengthen cooperation with countries in the world, including Liberia, to actively implement the "Beijing Declaration" and "Platform of Action", and jointly promote the development of global women's cause.

 President Weah in his speech highly affirmed the outstanding contributions of Liberian women in fighting the Covid-19 epidemic and promoting economic and social development, and said that he would continue to lead the Liberian government to promote the development of various causes of Liberian women.

     

A few days ago, Ambassador Ren also attended the opening ceremony of the Liberian Maritime Training Institute organized by the Liberian Maritime Authority. Liberian President H.E. George Manneh Weah, Deputy Speaker Kefa and other Liberal political figures and diplomatic envoys in Liberia attended the ceremony. In his speech, Director General Liberian Maritime Authority Nangbe thanked China and other international partners for their support to the development of Liberian Maritime work.
