Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng Attends Launching Ceremony of Kakata City Community Library and Science Laboratories Project

On March 12, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng attended the launching ceremony of the community library and science laboratories project in Kakata City, Maggibi County. Kakata Mayor Hon. Emmanuel M. Goll, Sr., Liberian central and local government officials and representatives of civil society organizations and representatives of the diplomatic corp in Liberia attended the event.

    

Ambassador Ren said in his speech that China has always been committed to promoting the development and construction of various fields in Liberia, including participating in the peacekeeping operations in Liberia and post-war reconstruction, dispatching medical expert teams and donating a large number of anti-epidemic materials to support the fight against Ebola and the Covid-19 epidemic in Liberia. In recent years, exchanges and cooperation in the field of education between China and Liberia have continued to deepen. In 2019 alone, more than 70 Liberian youths received Chinese government scholarships, and nearly 500 young people from all walks of life went to China for short-term training. The Chinese Ambassador's Scholarship awards about 100 outstanding Liberian university students each year.

Ambassador Ren emphasized that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China(CPC). Under the wise leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people have successively won the victories of revolution, construction, and reform and opening to the outside world. 770 million Chinese people have been lifted out of extreme poverty. The fourth session of the Thirteenth National People's Congress, which has just concluded, voted and passed the resolutions on the "14th Five-Year Plan" and Outline of the Long-range Objectives Through the Year 2035. The Chinese people have embarked on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way. Ambassador Ren said that the next Forum on China-Africa Cooperation session will be held this year. It is expected that China and Liberia will make full use of the opportunities brought by the Forum to comprehensively deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields and bring the development of bilateral relations to a higher level.

In their speeches, Mayor Goll and other Liberian representatives introduced the achievements made by the Liberian government in promoting Liberian education and library construction. They thanked China and other international partners for their support to Liberia's education and capacity building, and hoped that China and the international community will continue to support education in rural areas , human resource capacity building and infrastructure development.

    

Ambassador Ren donated a batch of office equipment and hundreds of books to the library and the laboratories on behalf of the Chinese embassy, and took interviews from Kakata local media.
