Ambassador Ren Yisheng Attends the Handover Ceremony of China Aid Medical Team in Liberia

On April 2, Chinese ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng attended the handover ceremony of the 13th and 14th batches of China Medical Teams(CMT) in Liberia at the JFK Hospital. Hon. Norwu Howard, Deputy Minister for Administration of the Ministry of Health of Liberia, Dr. Jerry Fahnloe Brown, Chief Executive Officer and General Administrator of and medical representatives of the JFK Medical Center, Mr. Siafa Sheriff, President of Liberia-China Friendship Association, Mr. Li Jiang, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy, and all members of the 13th and 14th batches of CMT attended the ceremony.

 

In his speech, Ambassador Ren congratulated the 13th batch of CMT for having successfully completed their mission, and appreciated them for sticking to their posts during the COVID-19 pandemic, and working with JFK hospital counterparts to treat patients on the front line. Ambassador Ren welcomed the 14th batch of CMT to Liberia, and hoped that they, as China's "health ambassadors", will work closely with Liberian medical staff to promote the health cooperation between China and Liberia to a new level. Ambassador Ren also stated that China will continue to vigorously support the development of the health cause of Liberia through various means, and is willing to work with Liberia to build a community of health for the mankind.

Deputy Minister Howard praised the CMT in Liberia as a symbol of China-Liberia health cooperation, thanked the 13th batch of the CMT for the health assistance work in Liberia, and awarded all the team members with JFK hospital appreciation certificates. Dr. Brown thanked the 13th batch of the CMT for their contributions to Liberian medical services, welcomed the 14th batch of the CMT to carry out work in Liberia and expressed readiness to provide convenience for their work and life in Liberia. President Sheriff thanked China for its continuous health assistance and support to Liberia and the work of the CMT in Liberia, and hoped that China would continue to support the development of Liberia's health, economic construction and other areas.

Dr. Zhang Hao, captain of the 13th batch of the CMT, expressed his unforgettable medical aid experience in Liberia, and thanked the Chinese Embassy and the Liberian side for their consistent support to the work of the medical team. The captain of the 14th batch, Dr. Wang Liang, said that the incoming CMT would take over the relay baton and continue to promote the spirit of the CMT that is fearing no hardships, willing to make dedication, and going all out to save lives with boundless love.
