Ambassador Ren Yisheng Attends the World IP Day Observance Event in Liberia

On April 26, H.E. Ren Yisheng, Chinese ambassador to Liberia, was invited to attend the observance event of World Intellectual Property Day organized by the Intellectual Property Office of Liberia. More than 100 people attended the event including Hon. Mawine G. Diggs, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Liberia, Atty. P. Adelyn Cooper, Director General of Liberia Intellectual Property Office, representatives of the Liberia Legislature and Cabinet, and members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) in Liberia.

In his speech, Ambassador Ren emphasized the importance of intellectual property protection and introduced the status quo of intellectual property protection in China. According to the White Paper of China's Intellectual Property Protection in 2020, China's efforts and achievements in protecting IPR have been well recognized at home and abroad. In 2020, China granted 530,000 invention patents and the number of invention patents per 10,000 population reached 15.8. The social satisfaction with IP protection in China reached a record high of 80.05 out of 100 points. And concerning the Global Innovation Index by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), China moved up to the 14th place in 2020, ranking first among the world's mid-income economies.

Ambassador Ren said that China is ready to actively explore more potential collaborations with Liberia in the area of IP protection, and jointly build China-Africa community with a shared future .
