Ambassador Ren Yisheng Attends the Inauguration Ceremony of the President of the Liberian Association of Chinese Trained Scholars

On May 21, Chinese ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng was invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of Mr. Filmore Wiagbe, President of the Liberian Association of Chinese Trained Scholars (LACTS) and other leading members. More than 50 people attended the event including Liberian Deputy Minister of Justice Hon. Jual N. Cassell, former Deputy Minister of Public Works Hon.R. Layfette Giddings and representatives of other people who have studied in China.

 

In his speech, Ambassador Ren congratulated Mr. Wiagbe and others on assuming their new responsibilities, and affirmed the contribution of the LACTS in promoting the Liberian development and the friendly relations between China and Liberia. Ambassador Ren said that in recent years, China and Liberia have achieved good results in pragmatic cooperation in various fields. China is ready to continue to promote the in-depth docking of the "Belt and Road" initiative with the "Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development" in Liberia, share its own development experience, and continue to promote practical cooperation between China and Liberia towards a new hight. Ambassador Ren emphasized that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China(CPC). Over the past century, under the strong leadership of the CPC, China has made great achievements in revolution, construction and reform. Ambassador Ren also introduced China's achievements in poverty alleviation, anti-epidemic, resumption of work and production, and China-Africa cooperation, and exposed Western countries' smearing of China on China-Africa cooperation, Hong Kong-related issues, and Xinjiang-related issues. Finally, Ambassador Ren encouraged the LACTS to continue to play the role of good-will envoys and promote more actively the friendship and people-to-people bonds between China and Liberia.

In their speeches, Deputy Minister Cassell, former Deputy Minister Giddings and President Wiagbe of LACTS thanked China for its tremendous support in the fields of education, human resource development, infrastructure construction, health, and agriculture. They expressed that as witnesses of China's success stories, they are willing to actively contribute to the development of relations between the two countries and promote friendship between Liberia and China and its people.
