Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Attends Liberian National Conference on Environment and Climate Change

Recently,Chinese ambassador to Liberia H.E.Ren Yisheng was invited to attend the Liberian National Conference on Environment and Climate Change organized by the Liberia Environmental Protection Agency. More than 200 people attended the event, including H.E. President George Manneh Weah, Ministers of the Cabinet of Liberia, envoys of various countries in Liberia, representatives of international organizations such as United Nations agencies in Liberia, and Liberian social organizations.

 

In his speech, Ambassador Ren commended the Liberian government for its achievements in environmental protection and response to climate change. He introduced China's green development philosophy and the environmental protection system reforms, laws and regulations, and green development achievements by promoting the construction of ecological civilization, particularly the remarkable achievements in desertification prevention and control, pollution prevention and control, green energy development and green growth. Ambassador Ren said that in the context of the global spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, China is willing to strengthen cooperation with countries in the world, including Liberia, actively implement the "Paris Agreement" and jointly promote the development of global green and low-carbon causes.

 

In his speech, President Weah emphasized that the Liberian government will firmly fulfill its obligations and responsibilities under the Paris Agreement, and actively promote the construction of an environment- and climate-friendly economic society. He said that he will strengthen cooperation with the international community and continue to lead the Liberian government to contribute to the development of green business.
