On September 29, Chinese ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng attended the handover ceremony of aid to Congo Town held in the Chinese Embassy and donated a batch of office and labor protection materials to Congo Town on behalf of the embassy. The Township Commissioner of the Congo Town Hon. Mensah Q. Suku, the director of the political office of the embassy Mr. Li Zhaoxin, staff from the Congo Town government and media representatives attended the event.

Ambassador Ren said in his speech that the Chinese Embassy in Liberia and the Congo Town government are close neighbors. As a member of the Congo Town community, the Chinese side  attaches great importance to the friendly and cooperative relations between the two sides. In recent years, China and Liberia have achieved remarkable results in people-to-people exchanges, infrastructure construction, human resources development, and anti-epidemic cooperation. Ambassador Ren said that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Over the past century, under the strong leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people have made great achievements in revolution, construction and reform. China is willing to share development experience with Liberia and will continue to work to support Liberia's economic and social development. The Chinese embassy is willing to continue to strengthen the pragmatic and friendly cooperation with the Congo Town government and make new contributions to the development of the community.

On behalf of the community and residents of Congo Town, Mr. Suku thanked the Chinese government and people for their selfless help in post-war reconstruction, the fight against Ebola and the Covid-19 epidemic, and economic and social development in Liberia. Mr. Suku also thanked the Chinese embassy for its outstanding contribution to the construction and development of the Congo Town community, and hoped that China will continue to provide support in areas such as capacity building and human resource development.
