On October 11, Chinese ambassador to Liberia H.E.Ren Yisheng was invited to attend the celebration of International Day of the Girl Child organized by the "Jewel Starfish Foundation" founded by Vice President Howard-Taylor, and donated a number of learning tools, daily necessities and anti-epidemic supplies to the Foundation on behalf of 10 Chinese institutions and charity organizations such as All-China Women's Federation, China Disabled Persons' Federation, China Charity Federation, and Ting Hsin Foundation. More than 100 people attended the event, including Hon. Norwu Howard, Chairperson of the "Starfish Foundation", representatives of relevant international organizations, and representatives of Liberian social groups and news media.

In his speech, Ambassador Ren pointed out the importance of promoting the rights and interests of women and girls, and called on the international community to care about and help the development of vulnerable groups such as women and girls. Ambassador Ren emphasized that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Over the past century, under the strong leadership of the CPC, China has made great achievements in revolution, construction and reform. 770 million people have been lifted out of absolute poverty, and the rights and interests of women and children have been significantly improved. Ambassador Ren highly commended the work done by the "Starfish Foundation" to promote the rights and interests of Liberian women and girls and said that in recent years, China and Liberia have achieved remarkable results in pragmatical cooperation in various fields. China is willing to continue to provide support within its capacity for the protection of the rights and interests of Liberian women and girls.

In her speech, Hon. Howard thanked China for its support in promoting peace-building, economic and social development, and helping vulnerable groups such as women and children, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, All-China Women's Federation, China Disabled Persons' Federation, China Charity Federation, Ting Hsin Foundation, and other charity organizations donated anti-epidemic materials and teaching aids to the Foundation. She  hoped that China and other international partners will continue to support the development of Liberian women and girls.
