Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Ren Yisheng Meets Liberian Vice President Howard-Taylor

On May 10, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng met with Liberian Vice President H.E. Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor. The two sides exchanged views on China-Liberia relations, pragmatic cooperation and the international situation. 

Ambassador Ren introduced the Global Security Initiative (GSI) proposed by President Xi Jinping and the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to be held in the second half of the year, appreciated Liberia's firm adherence to the one-China principle, and expressed that in recent years, the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries has yielded fruitful results, and China is willing to join hands with Liberia to strengthen the docking of “Belt and Road” cooperation, the “Nine Programs” of China-Africa Cooperation, the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the GSI with the “Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development” to continuously promote the building of a China-Liberia community with a shared future. Ambassador Ren also commended the efforts made by the “Jewel Starfish Foundation” and “Group 77” led by Vice President Taylor to promote the protection of vulnerable groups in Liberia, and said that China is willing to continue to provide assistance to Liberia within its capacity. 

Vice President Taylor congratulated the successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics and expressed sincere admiration for the great development achievements of the Chinese people led by the CPC. Liberia is willing to learn from China's successful experience in poverty reduction, economic development and other fields, continuously enrich the connotation of Liberia-China comprehensive cooperative partnership, and join hands to build a high-level Liberia-China community with a shared future. She spoke highly of the GSI, saying that all countries should strengthen communication and dialogue to peacefully and properly resolve complex international conflicts. She also wished the 20th National Congress of the CPC a success.
