​Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Meets Director-General of National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority of Liberia

On May 10, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng met with Ms. Emma Glassco, Director-General of National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority of Liberia (NaFAA), and exchanged views in-depth on further strengthening China-Liberia fishery cooperation. Mr. Li Jiang, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the embassy attended the meeting. 

Ambassador Ren listened to Ms. Glassco's introduction of Liberia's fisheries sector. Ambassador Ren said that China is a responsible fishing country, attaches great importance to the scientific conservation and sustainable utilization of fishery resources, and actively fulfills its international obligations. In recent years, China has made great achievements in fishery development, and has carried out a series of fishery cooperation with Liberia. China-Liberia fishery cooperation has broad prospects and huge potential. China is willing to continue to uphold the concept of sincerity, friendship and equality, and work with Liberia to explore new areas of bilateral pragmatic cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.

Ambassador Ren introduced China's achievements in economic and social development, the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic, etc., refuted the deeds of some Western countries who fabricated lies based on false information and wantonly attacked and smeared China on Xinjiang-related issues, and stressed that Xinjiang affairs are China's internal affairs and should not be interfered with. China firmly opposes any attempts to interfere in China's internal affairs and contain China's development under the guise of human rights.

Ms. Glassco expressed her sincere admiration of the great development achievements of the Chinese people led by the Communist Party of China, thanked China for its fishery capacity building and technical assistance to Liberia, and welcomed Chinese enterprises to make more investment in Liberia's fishery and aquaculture. Liberia will also strengthen cooperation with China in information sharing and technical exchanges.
