​Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Attends the 2022 African Day of School Feeding Celebration

On May 13, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng was invited to attend the 2022 African Day of School Feeding celebration held by the Liberian government in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County and delivered a speech. More than 200 people attended the event, including Hon. Prof. Dr. Ansu Sonii, Sr, Minister of Education, Hon. George Tee Forpoh, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Latim Dathong, Deputy Minister of Education, Representative of the Minister of Health, etc., officials of the Grand Bassa county and Buchanan city, representatives from the embassies of the United States and Sweden and other diplomatic corps, the World Food Programme and other international organizations in Liberia, NGOs, media, and students. 

In his speech, Ambassador Ren affirmed the important role played by the Africa Day of School Feeding program in promoting the food and nutrition security, the basic education and human resource development, as well as the sustainable family farming of African countries, including Liberia. He introduced the Global Security Initiative (GSI) proposed by President Xi Jinping, China's international cooperation in anti-epidemic and food security, and the achievements of China-Liberia pragmatic cooperation in recent years, etc., and expressed that China will closely align the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the GSI, all advocated by President Xi Jinping, with the PAPD, Africa 2063 Agenda and other African development agendas, and actively implement the “Nine Programs” of the 8th Ministerial Conference of FOCAC, and deepen pragmatic cooperation with all parties including Liberia, and continuously advance the building of a China-Africa and China-Liberia community of shared future. 

Minister of Education Sonii and others delivered speeches respectively, emphasizing the important role of food security, agriculture and education in promoting the economic and social development of Liberia, thanked China, the United Nations and other international partners for their great contributions to promoting Liberia's food security and social and economic development, and hoped that China and international partners will continue to provide assistance for the development of Liberia in various fields. 

Ambassador Ren also participated in the parade celebration organized by local students and interacted cordially with the student representatives.
