On May 25, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng held a dialogue on “The Secret and Enlightenment of China's Reform and Opening-up” with Liberian government officials at the invitation of the Ministry of Finance of Liberia. About 50 people attended the dialogue including Hon. Todd Joseph, Deputy Minister for Administration, Ministry of Public Works, Hon. Wilfred K. Selmah, Executive Director, Africa Peer Review Mechanism, Ambassador Charles M. Wiles, Chairman of Foreign Affairs, Coalition for Democratic Changes, the assistant ministers and officials of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Information, representatives of friendship associations related with China and the media, and Mr. Li Jiang, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy.

Ambassador Ren elaborated in detail the glorious history, development achievements, successful experiences and enlightenment of China's reform and opening-up over the past 44 years with a large number of vivid cases, as well as the progress of China-Africa, China-Liberia win-win, friendly and pragmatic cooperation in the new era. Ambassador Ren said that the exchanges and cooperation between China and Liberia are of great significance to promoting the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries. The Chinese side is willing to work together with the Liberian side to continue to strengthen the exchange of experience in state governance between the two countries and the friendly and pragmatic cooperation under the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the “Nine Programs” of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the “Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development”, and to continuously promote the building of a China-Liberia community with a shared future.

Deputy Minister Joseph and others made comments, expressed their sincere admiration for the great development achievements of the Chinese people under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) through the implementation of reform and opening up and said that the Liberian government is willing to learn from the successful experience of the CPC in reform, party building, economic development, poverty reduction and other fields in the new era, continue to enrich the connotation of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries, and work together to build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future. 

Ambassador Ren also interacted with the guests and answered questions on issues such as reform, economy, anti-corruption, infrastructure, education, policy and roles of communication, and China-Liberia pragmatic cooperation. The dialogue was active and interactive, and the guests expressed their congratulations to Ambassador Ren for his informative presentation. 

After the dialogue, Deputy Minister Joseph and others picked up books such as “China's Reform and Development Achievements” and “Building a Community of Shared Future for Mankind” prepared by the embassy, and shared their impression with Ambassador Ren and other diplomats of the embassy.
