​Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Attends the Coordination Meeting of International Donors of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority of Liberia

Recently, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng was invited to attend the Coordination Meeting of International Donors of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority of Liberia (NaFAA). Mr. Li Jiang, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy, and representatives of the European Union, the World Bank, and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Liberia attended the meeting. 

Ambassador Ren briefed the fruitful outcome of China-Liberia economic and trade cooperation, shared China's successful experience in fishery development, and put forward suggestions for further strengthening China-Liberia fishery cooperation. Ambassador Ren pointed out that over the years, the Chinese government has provided a large number of scholarships, academic degree programs and training programs for Liberian fishery management departments and academic institutions, which has effectively helped Liberia to solve the problem of talent shortage in fishery development and promoted people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries. Some Chinese-funded enterprises are engaged in fishery production and operation in Liberia, making important contributions to Liberia's economic development and the improvement of people's living standards.

 Ambassador Ren emphasized that China-Liberia fishery cooperation has broad prospects and great potential. China will continue to uphold the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and the principles of pursuing the greater good and shared interests, deepen China-Liberia fishery cooperation, strengthen technical assistance and capacity building for Liberia, actively share more technical experience to benefit the two peoples and promote the development of China-Liberia comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation. He hoped that Liberia will continue to strengthen fishery information sharing, actively introduce advanced technologies from China, improve the transparency of fishery law enforcement, and create a favorable business environment.

Mr. William Y. Boeh, Deputy Director General for Technical Services of NaFAA thanked China and other parties for their assistance to Liberia's fishery sector, and welcomed further strengthening of investment cooperation. Representatives of the EU, the World Bank and the FAO, etc. shared their experience and practices of aid to Liberia.
