On July 4, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng received the visit by Madam Neh Rita Sangai Dukuly Tolbert, former Liberian Ambassador to China. The two sides exchanged views extensively on China-Liberia relations and cooperation in various fields. 

Ambassador Ren shared the great achievements China has made under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) since its founding 100 years ago, as well as the people-centered development philosophy. He briefed on the outcome of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between China and Liberia under the framework of the "Belt and Road" Initiative and the "Nine Programs" of Forum on China-Africa cooperation, stressing that the one-China principle is the political foundation for the development of bilateral relations and the friendly and pragmatic cooperation in various fields has yielded tangible results since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Ambassador Ren also introduced that nearly 100 countries supported China's principled position on human rights issues through joint or individual statement at  the 50th session of the UN Human Rights Council. He expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Tolbert's contribution to promoting friendly and pragmatic cooperation between China and Liberia and stressed that China is willing to work with Liberia to strengthen pragmatic  cooperation in various fields on the basis of equality and mutual respect.

Ambassador Tolbert recalled her work experience in China as the first Liberian ambassador to China after the resumption of diplomatic relations between Liberia and China in 2003. and said that she was deeply impressed by the warmth and friendship of the Chinese people, and admired the great development achievements of the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC. She emphasized that China is a good friend and good partner who really helps Liberia, thanked China's long-term great contribution to promoting Liberia's economic and social development, expressed that Liberia is willing to learn from China's successful development experience, and expected that China will continue to support Liberia's development in areas such as agriculture and infrastructure construction.

The son of Ambassador Tolbert, who was also present, introduced his uncle President Tolbert's contribution to the establishment of diplomatic relations between Liberia and China in 1977.
