​Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Meets Co-Chairman of Liberia Senate Foreign Affairs Committee

On July 20, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng metwith Hon. Conmany Wesseh, Co-Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Liberian Senate. The two sides exchanged views extensively on China-Liberia relations and pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

Ambassador Ren said that under the framework of the "Belt and Road" Initiative (BRI) and the "Nine Programs" of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), China and Liberia have achieved fruitful outcome in mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation. Ambassador Ren commended the Liberian legislature's affirmation of Liberia's position on adhering to the one-China principle through legislation, and introduced that during the 50th session of the UN Human Rights Council, nearly 100 countries supported China's human rights position in the form of joint or individual statements. He expressed that China will follow the principle of respecting each other's core interests, equality and mutual benefit, and promote the healthy development of China-Liberia bilateral relations and friendly and pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

Chairman Wesseh reiterated that Liberia will continue to abide by the one-China policy, and appreciated China's great achievements in economic and social development in recent years. He said that China is a good friend and good partner that really helped Liberia, thanked China for its long-term great contribution to promoting Liberia's economic and social development, and hoped that the exchanges and cooperation with China will be strengthened so as to promote the continuous development of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Ren presented Chairman Wesseh with "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" (Volumes 1-3 in English).
