On July 25, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the YWCA  Jewels Training Center of the Jewel Starfish Foundation founded by Vice President Taylor of Liberia and the inauguration of the new office building of the Jewel Starfish Foundation headquarters. Nearly 200 people attended the event including the ambassadors of South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Cuba, Sweden and other countries in Liberia, representatives of the United Nations Population Fund in Liberia, domestic and foreign donor companies and trainees. Mr. Li Jiang, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy was present. 

In his speech, Ambassador Ren appreciated the significant work of the Jewel Starfish Foundation and the newly established the YWCA Jewel’s Training Center established and led by Vice President Taylor in helping empower vulnerable groups such as women in Liberia and help their development, and introduced China's achievements in women's cause. Ambassador Ren emphasized that in the new era, China will vigorously promote the friendly and pragmatic cooperation between China and Liberia, continue to support the development of the Jewel Starfish Foundation and the training center, and accurately meet the needs of the training center through a combination of online and offline methods according to the epidemic prevention and control situation. 

Vice President Taylor expressed her appreciation to the Chinese government for continuing to expand the scope of full scholarships provided to young female students in Liberia and to the Chinese Embassy in Liberia for donating materials to the Jewel Starfish Foundation, and hoped to strengthen the two sides’ cooperation.

Ambassador Ren was invited to cut the ribbon for the center with key guests, and visited the training center and the new office building of the Foundation.
