Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Attends the Dedication Ceremony of the Street Lights at the Border Bridge between Montserrado and Bomi Counties

On July 30, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.R. Ren Yisheng attended the dedication ceremony of solar street lights on the border bridge between Montserrado and Bomi counties. About 300 people attended the ceremony, including Mr. Jake Brown, special representative of the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, representatives of local leaders from counties of Montserrado, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Gparpolu, and local people.

Ambassador Ren Yisheng introduced to the local people the mutual benefit and win-win cooperation between China and Liberia under the framework of the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI), the “Nine Programs” of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative (GSI) and the “Pro-Poverty Agenda for Prosperity and Development ”(PAPD). He emphasized that people-to-people exchanges between China and Liberia in various fields have been continuously strengthened, especially in recent years, China has vigorously carried out a series of aid projects in Liberia aimed at benefiting people's livelihood. The outcomes of the projects are visible, tangible and down-to-earth in the local area, bringing benefits to the general public of Liberia. Ambassador Ren expressed that China is willing to work with Liberia to carry out more content-rich people-to-people cooperation in the fields of health, culture, education and infrastructure construction, and continue to promote the building of a community with a shared future between China and Liberia, so that the friendly and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries will truly benefit more people.

Mr. Brown and representatives of local leaders of various counties delivered speeches respectively, and sincerely thanked the Chinese side for its long-term contribution to promoting the economic and social development of Liberia. They said that due to the long-term lack of lighting facilities on the bridge here, safety accidents and public security cases frequently occurred. The Chinese side helped Liberia to install reliable and easy-to-use lighting facilities for the bridge, which will bring great convenience to the lives of the local people. They expressed that China is a good friend and good partner of Liberia, and hoped that China will continue to improve and develop local people's livelihood undertakings.

After the ceremony, Ambassador Ren, accompanied by Mr. Brown and others, toured the bridge and surrounding villages, and interacted with local people cordially. The atmosphere was active and cheerful.
