Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Meets Former Liberian Foreign Minister Findley

On August 4, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H. E. Ren Yisheng met with Honorable Gbehzohngar M. Findley, former Liberian Foreign Minister. The two sides exchanged views extensively on China-Liberia relations and cooperation in various fields.

Ambassador Ren expounded China's principled position on the Taiwan question, firmly opposed and severely condemned the visit of the US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, China. He introduced that nearly 100 countries supported China's position on human rights issues through joint or individual statements at the 50th UN Human Rights Council and expressed that China will promote the development of China-Liberia bilateral relations and deepen pragmatic and friendly cooperation in various fields based on the principle of respecting each other's core interests, equality and mutual benefit.

Former Foreign Minister Findley thanked China for its long-term great contribution to the development of Liberia in various fields. He said that China is an important strategic partner of Liberia. Liberia will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China policy, learn from China's successful development experience, and continuously push for new progress in Liberia-China relations and cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
