On August 11, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng met with Hon. Bhofal Chambers, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Liberia. The two sides exchanged views on the Taiwan question, China-Liberia relations and cooperation in various fields. 

Ambassador Ren expounded China's principled position on the Taiwan question, expressing firm opposition and severe condemnation to the US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to China’s Taiwan region in disregard of China's strong opposition and repeated representations. He stressed that China's relevant countermeasures are a necessary warning to the provocation of the United States and Taiwan authorities, and a legitimate defense of national sovereignty and security, which is completely reasonable and appropriate. 170 governments and international organizations supported China's position and reiterated that they will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China principle. Ambassador Ren appreciated Liberia's affirmation of adherence to the one-China principle through legislation, and thanked the Liberian government and its legislature for reaffirming that Liberia will firmly adhere to the one-China principle and oppose acts that undermine this principle. China is willing to continue to deepen the friendly and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries based on the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs.

House Speaker Chambers expressed his understanding of China's principle and position on the Taiwan question, and reiterated that Liberia will continue to abide by the one-China principle in accordance with relevant legislation. He thanked China for its long-term great contribution to promoting the development of Liberia in various fields, and appreciated China's great achievements in economic and social development. Liberia is willing to actively learn from China's successful development experience, and constantly push for new progress in Liberia-China relations and bilateral cooperation in various fields.
