On August 18, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng attended the launching ceremony of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules in Liberia. Hon. Dr. Jallah, Minister of Health of the Republic of Liberia, Hon. Trokon Kpui, Minister of State Without Portfolio, Hon. Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Daniel D. Ziankahn, Minister of Defense, representatives of Liberian government institutions, Economic and Commercial Counselor Li Jiang of the Embassy, Captain Wang Liang of the Chinese medical team in Liberia, Medical Director Zhai Yu of Mercy International Medical Center of Liberia, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises and associations, and Liberia media outlets attended the event. Executive Deputy General Manager Zhang Yunling of Chinese Yiling Pharmaceutical attended online. 

Ambassador Ren said in his speech that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an original medical system that has been gradually formed and continuously enriched and developed by the Chinese nation in the thousands of years of production and daily life practice and the struggle against diseases. More and more countries in the world and more and more people opt for, use and learn Chinese medicine. Ambassador Ren congratulated the official launching of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules in Liberia, introduced the fruitful achievements China and Liberia have made in strengthening the docking of the "Belt and Road" Initiative and the "Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development", and emphasized that China will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Liberia in the fields of medical care and public health, actively explore cooperation in traditional medicine including herbal medicine and acupuncture, and vigorously carry out capacity building such as training, so as to contribute to strengthening Liberia’s response to the epidemic and health challenges, improving the people’s health and well-being. 

On behalf of the Liberian government and the public, Health Minister Jallah and Minister of State Without Portfolio Kpui expressed thanks to the Chinese government for its help and support to Liberia over the years, reiterated their adherence to the one-China principle, and expressed willingness to continue to carry out cooperation with China in various fields including medical and health care, so as to promote the development of Liberia.   

Ms. Zhang Yunling introduced the research and development, efficacy and promotion of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules. Captain Wang Liang and Medical Director Zhai Yu made speeches respectively on the work of overcoming difficulties and saving lives in Liberia by Chinese doctors.
