Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Meets Minister of Commerce and Industry of Liberia

On September 9, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng met with Hon. Mawine G. Diggs, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Liberia. The two sides exchanged views on China-Liberia pragmatic and friendly cooperation and other issues. The Deputy Minister in charge of Commerce and Industry and others were present.

Ambassador Ren introduced the forthcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Shanghai International Import Expo, the new progress of China-Liberia pragmatic and friendly cooperation, and the government scholarships provided by China to Liberia in recent years. Ambassador Ren hoped that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Liberia can create a good service environment for the production and operation of Chinese-funded enterprises in Liberia, and expressed that China is willing to strengthen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation with Liberia in such areas as infrastructure construction, agriculture, industry and trade.

Minister Diggs reiterated that Liberia firmly adheres to the one-China principle and commended the achievements of China-Liberia friendly cooperation. She stressed that Liberia has great potential for development in rice grain production, agricultural product processing and import and export trade, etc., expected that China will assist Liberia to achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural and industrial products and reduce imports at an early date, and invited Ambassador Ren to visit the Liberia Industrial Park. Minister Diggs thanked the Chinese government for providing scholarships to seven staff members of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to help Liberia cultivate talents.
