Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Meets Former Liberian President Sirleaf

On October 14, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng met with H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former Liberian President. The two sides exchanged views on China-Liberia exchanges and pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

Ambassador Ren elaborated on the great achievements of China's economic and social development in the new era, and introduced the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He commended the adherence to the one-China principle and the positive development of China-Liberia friendly and pragmatic cooperation under the government of President Sirleaf, and expressed that China is willing to continue to provide support and assistance to Liberia's economic and social development, so as to constantly promote the steady and long-term development of bilateral relations. Ambassador Ren expressed solicitude to former President Sirleaf's recent surgery and wished her a speedy recovery.

Former President Sirleaf thanked the Chinese government and people for their great contribution to Liberias economic and social development, and wished the 20th National Congress of the CPCa complete success. She recalled that she had visited China and met with President Xi Jinping during her administration, and was deeply impressed by President Xi's leadership and foresight. She admired the great achievements made by the Chinese people led by the CPC, stressed that China is a good friend and partner that truly helps African countries achieve development and is willing to continue to contribute to the promotion of friendly relations between Liberia and China.
