​Acting Chairman of the Liberian Cabinet and Other Dignitaries Pay Condolences over the Passing Away of Comrade Jiang Zemin at the Chinese Embassy

On December 5, 2022, Acting Chairman of the Liberian Cabinet and Minister of Justice Cllr. Frank Musah Dean, Jr. came to the Chinese Embassy to pay condolences over the passing away of Comrade Jiang Zemin. Liberia's Acting Foreign Minister Abraham K. Korvah and other members of the Liberian cabinet including the Ministers of Health, Information, Commerce and Industry, Posts and Telecommunications, and Education, etc., were present. Ambassador Ren Yisheng, Political Counselor Xu Kun, and Economic and Commercial Counselor Li Jiang accompanied the visitors.

Acting Chairman Dean and other cabinet members mourned in silence in front of the portrait of Comrade Jiang Zemin and left messages respectively on the book of condolence. Cllr. Dean wrote that at this sad moment, on behalf of the President, government and people of Liberia, he would like to extend his deepest condolences to the Chinese President, government and people for the death of Comrade Jiang Zemin, and may Comrade Jiang Zemin rest in peace. He also expressed to Ambassador Ren that at the end of the last century and the beginning of this century, Comrade Jiang Zemin led the Chinese people in overcoming various difficulties and challenges and achieving remarkable achievements in economic and social development. Liberia is sincerely pleased with China's great development achievements since the reform and opening up, especially in recent years, thanks China for its long-term assistance to Liberia's economic and social development, and looks forward to further strengthening the friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Ren thanked President Weah for sending a message during his foreign visit to President Xi Jinping, expressing condolences over the passing away of Comrade Jiang Zemin, and thanked Acting Chairman Dean for leading members of the cabinet to come to the embassy to offer condolences, which reflects the friendship between the two countries. China is willing to work with Liberia on the basis of equality and mutual respect to continue to push China-Liberia pragmatic and friendly cooperation to new heights.

During the period of condolences, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Liberia Hon. Bhofal Chambers, and President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate Hon. Albert T. Chie respectively led the main leaders of various committees of the Liberian legislature to the Chinese embassy to mourn the death of Comrade Jiang Zemin, expressed deep condolences to the Chinese government and people, and commended Comrade Jiang Zemin as a great statesman and leader who dedicated all his life to the people. National Chairman of the Liberian ruling party Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Hon. Mulbah K. Morlu also led the vice chairman of CDC, the chairman of the foreign affairs committee and other high-level officials of the ruling party to the embassy to express condolences over the passing away of Comrade Jiang Zemin, praised Comrade Jiang Zemin as the trailblazer of a rising China, thanked him for his contribution to China and mankind, and said that CDC will work with the Communist Party of China to promote the friendly relations between the two parties and the two countries to a new level.
