Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng attends the handover ceremony of China-aid Tobeyville Primary School to Liberia's Maryland County

On January 27, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng attended the handover ceremony of China-Aid Tobeyville Primary School to Harper City, Maryland County. Hon. P. Mike Jurry, Representative of Harper District, Maryland County, Hon. Alex Chersia Grant, Representative of Gbarzon District, Grand Gedeh County, Hon. Reuben Scott, Development Superintendent, Maryland County, and Mr. Wu Zhengjiao, Managing Director of CHICO, Liberia. attended the ceremony, which was hosted by Mr.Li Jiang, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy to Liberia.

In his speech, Ambassador Ren said that in recent years, China-Liberia practical cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, infrastructure, mining, agriculture, forestry and fisheries has been effective, and humanistic exchanges have been fruitful. Peace and stability are the guarantee, development is the foundation, and students are the future. The Chinese government has always supported Liberia's education, and will continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Liberia in the fields of education and human resources, and support the new development of Liberia's education. Ambassador Ren expressed his full affirmation and appreciation for the Tobieville Primary School project built by CHICO Liberia.

   

In his speech, Hon. P. Mike Jurry, Representative of Harper District, Maryland County, reviewed the smooth development of bilateral relations between China and Liberia, praised the Chinese government for its help and support to Liberia over the years, and thanked the Embassy for donating the first public primary school in Harper City to provide educational opportunities for the children.

   

Hon. Reuben Scott, Development Superintendent, Maryland County, expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government on behalf of all the students and said he would do his best to maintain the school's standard operation and strive to build one of the best schools. Hon. Alex Chersia Grant, Representative of Gbarzon District, Grand Gedeh County, expressed his heartfelt respect for the selfless donation of the Chinese government and hoped that China would continue to share its successful experience and benefit more people's livelihood.

   

Hon. Wu Zhenjiao, Managing Director of CHICO, Liberia, said in his speech that CHICO will continue to focus on education in Liberia, help build infrastructure and fulfill more corporate social responsibility.

The Tobeyville Primary School, located on Anderson Street in Harper, Maryland County, was funded by the Chinese Embassy in Liberia and built by CHICO Liberia. The 187.6-square-meter building has five classrooms and a teacher's office, as well as three bathrooms and supporting facilities, which can accommodate at least 100 students at the same time.
